• Infinite Crisis has shut down.

With its departure, Dawnbase will be going into permanent read-only mode and will remain as both an archive of information about Infinite Crisis, and a reminder of the times we all had with the game.

Hats off to you all. It was a pleasure, ladies and gentlemen.

Yay! You made it to this part of the guide! It's a great honor to know I get to teach you more, as well as you wanting to learn more to improve your gameplay. I hope to not let you down.

If you just picked up Infinite Crisis as your first moba, I suggest you read my previous guide here.

Last time, we talked about the three advantages. Now that you know how to get them, you have to use your advantages to the fullest, or learn how to either beat somebody who has these advantages. We call these your general lane mechanics.

    Pushing

We talked about this last time, but pushing essentially allows you to take the enemy turret since you have more drones than the opponent. What I didn't mention is that you can also deny your opponent gold because the last hits they miss under tower generate smaller credits. They generally have to waste skills to maintain good last hitting, which translates to other lane advantages (we will go over this in intermediate laning), but essentially, it is another gold denial mechanic. This is obviously strongest when you have forced your opponent to recall to base, denying them all of the drone kills and gold. This brings up my last point. Pushing is also good to set up a good recall opportunity if you need to get health/will/refill vials. Pushing allows you to deny your opponent the ability to deny you YOUR drone kills when you recall.

So how do you push efficiently? You want to either use a strong AOE ability to kill the drones, and or auto attack as often as possible. However, you still want to maintain perfect CS, right? It is thus easier to kill the back line drones first, since they are not being targeted and are weaker in health. Then auto attack the melee drones. I have posted a video below on how to push effectively.

So why don't people do this all the time? Pushing inherently puts you in a disadvantageous position. You are far away from the support of your own tower and allies. In a 1v1 situation, this is fine, but now that you are playing PvP, you can get ganked by the enemy jungler and die, thus turning the game into the enemies' advantage. The best way to counter this is to bring cameras to lane. You can light up the map and see the enemy jungler coming, and respond accordingly by retreating.

    Freezing

Luckily for you, there is a defensive option for denying your enemy gold. Freezing is another creep manipulation technique that "freezes" the enemy drone wave near a safe zone for you to farm, generally near your tower/wards or very far away from your opponent's safe zone. This way, your opponent cannot last hit without putting themselves into a position to be ganked by your junglers. The key to a good freeze is management of the enemy drones. You want the drone wave to continuously push towards your tower without actually hitting it and resetting the wave towards the center of the map. To reiterate, freezing is based on:
• Your minions dying first
  • Their minions never hitting your tower
• To keep the wave pushing towards you, you have to draw their attention to only one of your allied drones and focus fire it (aggro). This ensures that your drones die faster, pushing the wave towards you. The easiest way to aggro their minions onto a single allied drone is to aggro them onto yourself and then walk them into one of your approaching creeps, or walking into a stealth pad. You can check drone aggro onto yourself by looking at the top right corner of the drone. If it has a little star, they are attacking you. The last tip I can give you is that a drone wave with extra drones from the previous wave will always push harder than a single drone wave. So if you have the luxury of leftover drones in the enemy wave, don't kill them immediately and let the wave perma-push into your safe zone.

So how do you prevent the minions from hitting your tower? The simplest way is to just tank the drones until your drones are present. You might take a bit of damage this way, but it will be worth it to prevent an incoming gank from killing you. However, take too much damage, and the enemy jungler might just tower dive you. The most optimal way to prevent damage and still hold the drone wave is to move back and forth through a stealth pad. This is hard to do on CC because the pads are a bit far from the tower and your safe zone, but you can always hold the wave at the pad for a bit and then let it push further into your safe zone. Here is a video of what I am talking about:
    ****VIDEO COMING SOON****

The last thing I wanted to talk about is how to play against a freeze. In the ideal world for your opponent, their freeze will deny you all the farm. You can thus do 2 things:
• Break the freeze
  • Apply pressure elsewhere
• To break the freeze, simply push your drone wave into their turret. Blasters are extremely adept at this because of their AOE damage and range. It is easier for them to push and get out. If you fear the incoming gank, call your jungler over to help you push the wave into the turret. You might have to push multiple waves until the lane resets. Ideally, you start pushing the wave as soon as the two drone waves meet to maximize the travel distance into the turret and thus maximize the damage the turret does to kill the drones.

I personally like the idea of roaming elsewhere to apply pressure on the map opposed to breaking freezes. This way, you can time a completed item/level power spike with your opponent starting a freeze to help your team with relays, raider, and doomsday device, then comeback to a reset lane when your opponent breaks their freeze to punish your roam. It creates an optimal win-win situation for you.

Thanks for reading! The intermediate guide to laning and 1v1 is coming soon :D
