  • Infinite Crisis has shut down.

With its departure, Dawnbase will be going into permanent read-only mode and will remain as both an archive of information about Infinite Crisis, and a reminder of the times we all had with the game.

Hats off to you all. It was a pleasure, ladies and gentlemen.

Special thanks to the awesome Dawnbase staff for helping me when my guide initially broke!

    Why Sinestro?
Sinestro is a great advanced character, in my opinion. The nature of what makes him advanced lies mainly in the fact that he is a glass cannon -- much like Cyborg or Flash, you will find that Sinestro is incredibly fragile. However, being the glass cannon that he is, Sinestro can deal a ton of damage really quickly if he goes unchecked. If you feel like chaining kills or dealing massive damage, this character might be for you!

Given that you will ideally be stacking power damage, your ranged poke attack (Saw Blade - Q), will be a great way to harass any opponent coming your way. You can also take out multiple drones/creeps in one swing of your scythe (Dread Scythe - W). Sinestro has a leap attack (Cull the Weak - E) that is useful for both getting last hits and running away from opponents. Finally, you have your ultimate attack: Parallax (Fear Incarnate - R), which is a skill-shot that stuns while doing massive damage on a succesful hit, or leaves an AOE fear-zone if it misses.

Gameplay aside, Sinestro is actually a really interesting character from the DC Universe. He has a rich history of being a villain but he was a good guy for a little while too. I would highly recommend reading his wiki if you are at all interested in his story.

Long story short: Sinestro is not the leader of the Sinestro Corps (Yellow Lanterns) for nothing.

**If you are new to the game, or MOBAs in general, you may want to stray from Sinestro until you have some practice with ranged and/or poke champions.

    Strengths
In my experience, Sinestro works best as a Power Damage (PD) champion. You will also want some Power Penetration and Power Lifesteal.

Power Damage is your strong suit; you can get away with roughly 500 power damage in your late-game build. Even with stacking some heavy power armor, your opponents will feel your attacks. Just be weary of who is building both health and power armor -- it will save you from wasting your strength on an opponent that is not built for damage.

Your main task is ultimately going to be shutting down the heavy hitting enemies. You may have to co-ordinate with your team as to which enemies to focus on, and in what order, as you will probably work best in groups or in a pair.

    Weaknesses
As I mentioned earlier, Sinestro is simply not made to take a hit. This ultimately means that you can die very quickly, especially against ranged attack damage champions.

I feel most comfortable with Sinestro when I am using him in group combat; 1+ additional team mate, to hopefully take the heat off of you. If you are being consistently targeted in group combat, rethink your strategy and tactics, otherwise you will be picked off quickly every single time.

    Core Items
With every character, it's all about how you build them. Sinestro, being a "blaster", is all about ranged power damage. Essentially this means that you're going to need to stack as much power damage and/or penetration as possible -- all while being mindful of item effects. It gets a little complicated at times, but here is a general explanation as to why you're going to want each of the core items I've chosen.

The Starheart (1) - This is a great item to get early game, as you'll be outputting so much damage that nobody will be able to take more than a couple of hits. If playing on Gotham Heights, try saving your starting gold until you have just enough to pick up the Starheart early in the match. When this item is maxed out, it becomes The Starheart (3). The bonus 30% power damage makes it crucial to acquire.

    Optional Items
This is where things get tricky, and really depend on how the game is going. If you want to harass your opponents, you will probably just want to stack Power Damage and Power Penetration. If you want to be the "last hit machine" that Sinestro can be, stack PD & Power Lifesteal.

[[Doctor Destiny's Dreamstone (1)]] - When I started playing Sinestro, one of the first things I noticed was how quickly I would run out of Will. Not being able to make use of yoru abilities is one of the worst case scenarios you can find yourself in, considering how much you rely on them. Realistically, you only need to level this up to [[Doctor Destiny's Dreamstone (2)]] until later on, at which point you can sell it or upgrade it further. It's pretty handy to have for the early to mid game, if you find that you are running out of Will often.
