    Introduction

I wanted to write a general guideline that players can refer to or abide by when playing the game especially for the newer players that do not know how this game is played. There will be some references to certain maps but I try to make it as general as possible and fits all aspects of gameplay. WARNING! Most of these guidlines are not ironclad so it is in your best interest to excercise extreme judgement. All in all happy reading and best of wishes in the Protector Trials.

    Map Awareness

Constantly check and pay attention to the map and remember where you last saw enemy players especially your allies and their champions. This makes decisions to engage certain battles better when needed. The more knowledge you can obtain about the whereabouts of your opponent the better off you will be. This will allow you to know if it is safe to push if you are alone or with an ally(s). Surveillance Cameras are advantageous for this reason.

    Fighting the Fight

When duking it out with your opponent you always want to gauge the progress of the fight. So this means paying attention to how much damage is dealt to you and the rate that they do it. You also want to pay attention to how much damage you are dealing. Based on these two factors a good player can decided when to stick it out and fight to the end or retreat to fight another day. This becomes complicated when more enemies, allies, abilities enter the fray but these rules still apply.

    Leave and Let Live

When you are on low health its usually a good idea to go back to base and heal because staying any longer than needed flags to your opponent "Hey come kill me!" There are times when you can stick around with low health especially in team fights because if you are one of those champions that can change the course of a fight with one or two skills then by all means attempt that. It comes down to the better judgement of the player and that comes with experience.

    No Will, No Worries

When you don't have the resources to cast your abilities because you are tapped out on Will, Energy, Revs, etc. or because of Cooldowns don't fret. As long as you have health you still have another available resource for damage "Auto Attacks", "Basic Attacks", or "Right-Click."

Don't be Feedin', Do the Eatin'

It is your best interest to prevent yourself from dying at all cost. Dying and letting the enemy players get a kill on you gives them an advantage over you especially when you are going to face that person again when you respawn. Over time if this happens again and again they will have so much credits that they have a full artifact over you and that spells an unfair advantage. When all of your enemies have huge credits lead over you and your allies the "Snowball" effect happens and it makes it that much harder for you to put up a good fight. Now, if you are the one getting the kills the same applies to your opponent and this is the situation you want to be in.

    Operation: Protect the DPS!

When you are playing the Support, Controller, Enforcer role do your best to protect your Marksmen or Blaster. So give up that chase on that low health champion that is getting away and go protect that damage dealer. The longer that these guys remain on the field of battle the more onslaught they can rain. If the fleeing enemies decided to come back then make them pay but only after you have done your duty. For those of you who do not know this is an art form called "Peeling" given by the community.

    The Dance, Bobbing and Weaving

When charging into a fight there are times when you will be targeted by all your enemies and they will focus you with skills and auto attacks and possibly die in the proccess. Don't become a victim to those sort of shenanigans, run out of their damage range and hopefully another ally will take the focus. Doing this draw the movement of your opponents especially if you have low health and they want to secure the kill on you. When you are safe try to look for opportunities to go back into the fight. Rinse and Repeat. One step in, two steps out.

    Hotkeys = Easy Life

Try to hotkeys as many things at the comfort of your playstyle. Scenario: I've seen many of the newer players still clicking on their skills to level them up. Hotkeys save time and make skills or abilities easily accessible with the press of a button, or two. In those intense fights being able to cast a stronger skill because you leveled it up during a fight can greatly increase the outcome you desire. It is better than having to look at your skills while in an intense situation and have to hover over your skills with the cursor to level them. Also you want to have the Taunt and Dance at your fingertips.

    Turrets and You!

Turrets are probably one of your greatest allies when you are alone. They will grant you some relief when oppenents are trying to chase you down as it will deter them from the pursuit. Bare in mind this is not always the case in multiple scenarios. Most of these situations are when the opposing are diving you in numbers, have an EMP, the enemies drones are there to draw aggro, the turret is a few hits from being destroyed, etc.

    So Sneaky, So Stealth

Stealth Pads are a great way to confuse your opponent about your whereabouts especially when they didn't see you prior to entering them. It's a great way to plan an attack on your enemies like an ambushing cheetah. It is also a great way to shake of opponents when they are chasing you so always try to find one when they are in pursuit. It could prevent that one auto attack or skill for the kill because they didn't have vision of you. It is also one of the best tools to create that juke moment where you leave your opponent in the dust.

Don't Take What You Don't Need

There are times when there is a Health Pack, Speed Pack, ect. that is lying on the ground somewhere and you are full Health or possiblly even Will and maybe a nearby ally needs that Speed Pack to escape death, do not be that mindless zombie that runs over it and take it (There is some judgement excercised to see who needs it more when you and a teammates have similar depleted bars or both need to run away). Take the time to maneuver around it and be considerate of your teammates. They will surely appreciate the gesture.

    Attack of the Machines

During the early stages of the game when Champions are at a low level where they barely have any Health and Armor it is best to not draw attention of nearby enemy drones. When you attack a enemy Champion and there are drones nearby they will focus you until you run out of their range at which point they go back to attack the opposing drones again. These enemy drones can hurt you for a lot of damage especially when you stay in the vicinity. So knowing this information you can get the enemy Champion to do the same and maybe it can benefit you.

Great guide. Thanks for posting your knowledge of the game here. I would like to pass along a few tips someone gave me about map awareness, if this is ok. One, play some Arcane Green Lantern. A LoL pro once said everyone should play Twisted Fate because his playstyle (Ult) forces you to look at the map. The same applies here with Arcane Greeen Lantern and his Ult. Another thing I would like to add, if you have 2 monitors, is screen cap the mini map onto a second monitor and make it huge. Trick2G mentioned this one day and I thought it was brilliant.
