    Try it out. I have had huge success playing gascat and I have a very high win rate considering the amount of games I played with her. You just have to keep in mind that while she can deal tons of damage she also is very squishy. Move well. Depending on the map and how the game is going switch up the order or core items. While teamwork is most important, I believe these items help you fulfill your role.
