  • Infinite Crisis has shut down.

With its departure, Dawnbase will be going into permanent read-only mode and will remain as both an archive of information about Infinite Crisis, and a reminder of the times we all had with the game.

Hats off to you all. It was a pleasure, ladies and gentlemen.

Infinite Crisis is again turning off all queues except for one map for a week at a time, similar to how the past week had Coast City as the exclusive map available for public matchmaking.

From November 10th, the Gotham Heights queue will be disabled leaving only Gotham Divided available for one week. A week of Gotham Heights will be announced later.

All maps will continue to be available as custom games and as versus AI games.

What do you think of this approach? Do you believe that enforcing a single map queue will encourage players to test new maps and improve queue times, or do you think forcing players into maps they may not like could backfire on Turbine?

I think its an attempt to shorten Que- times to keep the player base interested. Lets face it, who wants 10-16 minute Que times. So with deaths of other MOBA's like Dawngate, we really want our game to play as fast as possible to keep new players interested, yes maybe some old school people will be mad that for a week their style of game is gone but players who love the game will know that it will come back and not only that, its not a permenant shut down. Custom is still completely available which isn't a hard thing to get going and in my opinion, encourages players friending other players = strengthen the community.  I feel like its all positives! LONG LIVE IC!

As much as I really don't like being forced to play on one map, I do have to admit the que times are much better then I expected. I know they can't continue to do weekly maps cause that would be awful for everyone but at least Turbine is making some attempt to fix the problem instead of doing nothing. I would hate to see this game become something like Dawngate.

I have to agree with Fearik on that one, as forcing your player base to play one type of game is far from being a good thing. I have never been a fan of dominion/Gotham Heights type of games, and will defo not be around for a week (or maybe will play against bots as a worst case scenario, but seeing how good the AI created by Turbine is, I would rather play versus monkeys). It reminds me of the "accounts wipe outs" series they did in the closed beta, when they erased all accounts of all the characters and achievements every so and so, and that ended up with the EU server being deserted for a while as people were fed up to play to unlock new characters or power, only to be told "Nope ! You have to do it all over again now :/ " after a few weeks. The only alternative will be custom games, but again, seeing how brilliant the chat and friends system created by Turbine is, well, let's say I won't be the initiator of games very often. If they want to go ahead with "Play Only One Map" type of events, I think they should works on other issues (like the chat, friends and grouping system) prior to this. The EU server is already lacking players (in terms of numbers) and I'm afraid this map enforcement system will only increase the queuing time (from 3,4 minutes to surely 7 to 10). Defo not a fan !

I don't think this is right. I shouldn't be made to play a game mode that I don't want to. They should do would league of legends do it with severs. I feel like this could be a great game, but they need help getting it to that point. As a DC fan I don't mind playing this game in it's current form, but as a consumer and a gamer if feel like someone is robbing me of a decent experince.

I, for one, am definitely opposed to this map enforcing system Turbine seems to want to implement. I took the entire week off from Infinite Crisis during Coast City week. I just didn't want to play it. I don't like being forced into playing a map I'm not fond of. If I want to sit around and queue for the same map over and over, I should not be penalized for it. I'm all for promoting other maps and helping grow the population of those who enjoy playing said maps. However, I think this could be accomplished by something like a double merit week or weekend for one map. That way people can continue to queue for the maps they may prefer, but can receive an added bonus if they venture out into the map being promoted instead. Removing options from folks and telling them "NO! YOU HAVE TO PLAY THIS INSTEAD!" is not the best approach, IMO. And I know I could just get nine other folks together and do a custom game, but I'm too lazy to do that. I think most other people would be, too.
