With its departure, Dawnbase will be going into permanent read-only mode and will remain as both an archive of information about Infinite Crisis, and a reminder of the times we all had with the game.

If I had to guess, I'd think Supe's release is getting saved for a special event... like, say, the official launch of the game?
I've heard that they had him when the beta first launched but he was too broken. So they took him out until they could figure out how to put him in the game without breaking the balance. Just a rumor though
That rumor is very much false. Superman's kit has only been finalised only quite recently (his ult has seemed like the most difficult thing to decide on and balance). He'll be released once he's ready.

There is no logical reason they would want to release him AFTER release....why wait to profit on sales of the character? They want him there from day 1 to lure customers and make sales!
Who else is thinking that Supermans Ulti will be just like Pantheons? Don't mean to make a comparison to a lamer game but... Zomg that would be fukin cool!
Sac, do yuo happen to have any insight into their license agreement with DC? The question I have is whether or not they are allowed to make any character they want in the main DC universe. Can they make Darkseid, Hawkman, Professor Zoom, etc. etc.? Or are they limited to a specific set of characters?
It is a blanket license; any DC character is generally available for use in Infinite Crisis.
Good! That should dispel any idea that they are making multiple versions because they have a limited selection to start with.
